2023 was an eventful and great year for Tiffany! She completed Erskine Green Training Institute in December of 2022. Immediately thereafter, she began filling out applications with her job coach, and she was able to obtain employment through Colonial Oaks Health and Rehab working in food service. In July, she was chosen as their Rookie of
2023 was an eventful and great year for Tiffany! She completed Erskine Green Training Institute in December of 2022. Immediately thereafter, she began filling out applications with her job coach, and she was able to obtain employment through Colonial Oaks Health and Rehab working in food service. In July, she was chosen as their Rookie of the Month. Tiffany enjoys helping others so working at Colonial Oaks has been a good fit for her. Tiffany successfully completed the Vocational Rehabilitation process in December of 2023. Tiffany reported at her last team meeting she is going to serve as a mentor to others at Carey Services.
Tiffany’s family and team are proud of her efforts over the last year and especially pleased with her continued commitment to procure her independence. When Tiffany isn’t working, she enjoys shopping at thrift stores, spending time with her family, being active in her community, and creating various art projects.

Mary has worked at Wabash Center for several years. She recently won the Work Excellence Award! She works very hard at her job. Mary loves her boss and her coworkers. Tommy just got his first job working at Schnuck’s! He is responsible for bagging groceries and bringing carts in from the parking lot. Tommy is hilarious and loves to joke around and make people laugh. He makes his Case Manager crack up at every meeting! He is an amazing uncle to his young nieces and his 2-month-old nephew! Tommy just got his first job working at Schnuck’s! He is responsible for bagging groceries and bringing carts in from the parking lot. His favorite task at work is driving in the scooter carts. He jokes about how he scopes them out when he is on his break outside then gets those first when he is done with his break. He was in a serious accident when he was 17, and he spent a year in hospitals learning how to walk, talk, and eat all over again. Tommy is glad to have his first job and happy to be earning money! Tommy is very good at fixing and building things, and he loves outdoor activities like fishing and camping. Congratulations, Tommy!
Michelle has worked for Wabash Center for several years and won an award this year for assembling over 1 million rivets. YAY MICHELLE! She loves her coworkers and her bosses. She enjoys spending her days in the workshop. Congratulations on your success Michelle!
Bryan has achieved many things this past quarter! He obtained a part-time position at the YMCA where he has volunteered for many years and continues to do so. He completed and earned his CPR certification and was recognized as an All Star for his hard work and dedication to the YMCA and for his participation in Wellness and Sports. Way to go Bryan!
Kelli has volunteered at the Children's Museum for several years. She serves on the "ASAP" team which focuses on a wide variety of projects needed by the museum. She recently attended the volunteer banquet and was honored with an award for 1,000 volunteer hours served. Her family and team are very proud of Kelli! Congrats!

Dominique's Track & Field Team through Carroll High School’s Unified Sports Program placed 2nd in the State Tournament this year. Individually, Dominique competed in shot put, the 100m dash, and the 400m dash where he placed in 3rd. Great job, Dominique!
McKenna recently volunteered at the Hamilton Humane Society for the first time! She filled out the online application independently and her staff Tracy, from Hands in Autism, is assisting her with volunteering. McKenna is 14 and going to be a freshman at Franklin Central High School this year. Great job McKenna!
Gabe has received two promotions over the last few years at his job at Chick-fil-A with the most recent being Executive Chicken Ambassador, where he is training other employees and co-workers! Congrats Gabe!

CJ is an amazing kiddo who is getting prepared this summer to transition to middle school. He loves to take trips to Florida, swim and ride on elevators and escalators. CJ has a puppy named Roadie. He loves to visit his cousins and has learned how to make himself a special treat, a Vanilla Latte, while spending time at his Aunt Bekah's house. CJ, you rock!
Ben just graduated from Eastern Hancock High School. He worked so hard to get his diploma and his family, friends, and waiver team are so proud of him! Ben loves Back to the Future and had his senior pictures taken with a DeLorean that his Case Manager and his mother surprised him with! Ben is excited to tackle adult life by looking for a full-time job once he turns 18! Congratulations Ben!
This was Gavin's second year to participate in the Summer Special Olympic Games. He won a silver medal in the 100 yard relay. He brought home bronze in 50 freestyle and 50 backstroke. His mom shared that they had a great weekend with all the other athletes, parents, and coaches. Way to go Gavin!
Isaiah recently graduated from the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired. He is excited to begin his adult life by attending New Adventures 4 You, or "The Club" as he calls it. He had an open house and his Case Manager and director of day program joined to congratulate Isaiah on all his hard work! Congratulations on your accomplishments, Isaiah!
Dagny recently visited the Peppa Pig Theme Park near Orlando, Florida for her 10th birthday! She loves Peppa Pig and loves to talk about visiting the park. She hopes to go back soon! Jessica is a young woman on the autism spectrum who learned to do beading during her Project Search internship her last year of high school. The Project Search team received a Creative Classroom grant from Lawrence Township Education Foundation to make Meditation Beads for Community Hospital North. Out of all the Project Search interns at the time, she was chosen to work on this project. During the internship, over 180 bracelets were given to patients at Community Hospital North Cancer Center. The project was then expanded, and bracelets were given to all Lawrence Township bus drivers and transportation staff following the tragic death of Amy Beverland Elementary principal, Mrs. Susan Jordan. At the end of the internship, Jess and her instructor created her own Etsy Page as a way for her to continue what she had learned. Jess has continued making bracelets at home and has added lots of new items to her collection such as earrings, rosary beads, keychains, bookmarks and even facemask lanyards! She loves coming up with new designs and posting them before the next holiday is coming, so that her customers can show off her designs in spirited fashion! Jessica is very proud of her work and appreciates all of the support that has been shown to her! Steven and his Bloomington South High School Track and Field team just won their first ever Unified Track and Field sectional championship. Steven won in the long jump competition. Tiffany and Joy just recently moved in together. They are using remote supports as needed and they are both working in the community. Tiffany just moved from a house where residential services were provided 24 hours a day and Joy just moved out of her parents' home. Hello independence! They are changing the world!

Joe's family planned a trip to Disney World. This trip consisted of 12 family members and lifelong family friends who gathered from all over the United States to spend 4 days at Disney with Joe! Joe set personal goals to increase his strength and endurance to prepare for the trip by walking laps in the therapy pool daily. Joe was thrilled to meet Mickey, Ariel and King Triton. His favorite ride was the Rock N Roll Rollercoaster at Hollywood Studios. Joe’s favorite activity was dinner and a live Polka band at The Biergarten at Epcot. There, Joe danced and sang the night away while enjoying a dinner show and traditional German eats, and celebrating his family’s heritage. We are thrilled Joe was able to fulfill one of his dreams!
Christopher is very talented with building things and mechanical/electrical tasks. His mom recently stated that she needed something to hold her ribbons in her craft room. Christopher asked her to describe it and then told her the things he would need to build it for her. She bought the items, and he built her the ribbon holder! Christoph

Morgan currently works at the YMCA in Warsaw, where she recently increased her hours from only a couple hours a few days to just about every weekday. She was awarded Employee of the Month for the month of December 2021! In talking with Morgan, she loves working with her coworkers and interacting with so many different people while working at the Y!
Tim is an amazing guy who would help anyone, anytime without question. He loves doing work outdoors, especially mowing lawns and clearing snow for others using his snowblower. Although someone got there before they did, Tim was ready, willing and able to do the job! Mom also shared another story of Tim climbing a tree at an apple orchard to help a friend when there together. Kurt, known as "The Blind Pianist", performed in the Traditional Christmas Show at Paramount Theater in Anderson this month. Kurt was one of the four performers and played multiple songs on the piano. Kurt is very talented and also plays the organ and guitar. Blake got a new job as a ticket taker at his local movie theater. He has wanted to work at a movie theater so he asked his waiver staff to take him to complete an application. He completed the application and got a call back for an interview and was hired on the spot! He was excited that he was able to do this completely on his own and is ready to work! Congratulations Blake!

Her family has supported her every step of the way and continue to support her as she strives toward greater levels of independence. She recently moved out of her parents' home and into her own apartment, another first for her. Her recent marriage and move are not the only causes for celebration. To say that this young woman is inspirational would be an understatement. When she is not working at her community job or working on improving her independent living skills, she can be found volunteering, learning how to play the guitar, or taking cooking lessons. Her Case Manager, is very proud to be a part of her team and looks forward to having the opportunity to support her, cheer her on, and celebrate all of her future accomplishments! Easton was born very small, weighing around four pounds, with a rare chromosomal micro-deletion. He was discharged from the hospital on hospice at six months of age with a feeding tube and low oxygen levels. Easton has overcome some major deficits to be where he is at today.
